Visiting a resort without a reservation - logistics

Hi,

I know we can visit other resorts for meals but how do we actually get to the restaurant if we are travelling by our car. Do we have to talk to the security guard or can we use the magic band entrance?

For example if we stay at CSR and want to go to Yacht Club for a meal without reservation will our magic band work on the security gate? I really don't want to try it without knowing it will work as I'll feel a right numpty having to reverse out if the barrier doesn't raise .

Thanks,
Katy

You have to speak to the security guard

Why don't you want to make a reservation? Easy to do and costs nothing (as long as you cancel the day before if you won't be there)?

If the car park is full they could refuse you entry if you don't have a reservation.

Alternatively it is very easy to get to all the resorts without a car - either Uber or use the Our Laughing Place transport wizard to show you the easiest way.

We stayed at SSR and usually walked 10 minutes to DS (it was DTD at the time!) to get a bus to all the deluxe resorts. You wouldn't be able to do that from CSR but you could get a bus to the nearest park and change, or to DS and change.

It would probably be better to make a reservation, most restaurants don't have trouble filling the tables. If a reservation was not required, it might be too easy for somebody to turn up saying they want to go to restaurant but really just want to walk to a nearby park for a bit, so I can't see that working out too well.

We tried to go to an Epcot resort once without a dining reservation and got turned away. It was during Food & Wine though so that may have made a difference.

Same as us during the summer period. They checked for reservation before they let us through.

Can you not say you are going for the quick service food option? Just a thought.

You might get lucky and security guard let you in, but not convinced they will. What's to stop, you or anyone else, doing this and walking into Epcot for a couple of hours - and saving on car park charge.
They have a list of ADRs to check against. Worth a try though.

Couldn't you just walk from Epcot?

Didn’t work for us. We said we wanted to get something to eat but with no reservation it was a no.
