I got my first paid of varifocals with the "work place" lens in them last week - and I could not get them to work - as in no matter where I looked through the lens I could not see my phone screen, or works VDU screen clearly.
They thin the frame was too wide, so they are redoing them in a smaller frame and the "normal" varifocal as opposed to the workplace lens - so will see if any better in about 10 days! Am only trying varifocals as they offer a 30 day money back guarantee if you do not like them. |

Try Asda opticians I got 2 pair of varifocal for £120 and they have some lovely styles, they also do designer ones which are slightly more expensive. Asda don't charge extra for thinned lenses or varifocals. I took to them straight away and now they just feel like normal glasses. However my husband took months to get used to them.

I too get the expensive lenses, the cheaper lens have such a narrow field that it made me feel drunk. I have Nikon and Ray Ban Rox lenses and find them really good, but they are darned expensive.

Until last year I always go my varifocals from ASDA with no issues at all. They were far cheaper for thinner glasses. Used to be able to just put them on and have no issues.
However during last year I had to get a new prescription. Felt like I have having issues. Needed therefore to go to local optician as we couldn't travel. I decided that was the time to go for the extra everything pair. Wider focal size, protection against oncoming headlights, designed for PC use etc. Rather than the two pair for £150 these were £330 for a single pair. They were very slow in getting them made. First pair couldn't be made in the frames I choose as the lens kept falling out. They upgraded the frame free of charge but it was another 4 week wait. Meantime I was able to go to ASDA and thought I would get a couple of cheaper pairs, one as sunglasses. This time the ASDA ones were dreadful. Everything was wrong. Blurred distance, couldn't read anything. They remeasured said the first measurements were wrong and remade. Still just as bad. They then blamed my prescription. I gave up and got my money back. The expensive ones came in and they were perfect. Far better than I have had before. In this case for me it was worth paying the extra. |
