Of course it has. Got tired of reading all the doomsday posts on here that it would never return.

Dining credits are issued at check in, you have to purchase DDP in advance. So it couldn't be a straight trade. It's possible WDTC might do a goodwill gesture and allow you to purchase DDP at a discount in lieu of the credits - it ultimately means more money in their pockets for the booking.

Although when paying OOP, DDP rarely works out more cost effective unless you always order the most expensive items and/or do a LOT of character dining. So personally, I would just take the cash cost of the DDP and set it aside as your dining budget.

I doubt very much we will see free dining return. Plenty of people have booked without it. The credits offer is good for Disney. Less outlay and people will still eat onsite because it’s easier if staying onsite.

I'm not so sure. Despite all the supposedly pent up demand, it didn't take them too long to offer free dining credit. Obviously not as costly as free dining credit but still an outlay that plenty thought they wouldn't need to provide.
