Car Hire Prices

Has anybody else seen that car hire seems to be really expensive for next year?

Got a quote from Virgin for a Rav 4 or equivalent for 3 weeks May/June, it was £1800!

Even with Alamo its £1200 plus.

It has never cost anywhere near that much. I actually saved the car hire money from the cancelled holiday we were meant to go on in lockdown and it was £600 for same amount of time.

Do you think the prices will come down?

Not for the foreseeable.

Yes car hire companies filed for bankruptcy/sold off cars now travel is booming and there is a shortage of computer chips to put in cars so they can’t replace them

Supply and demand

Hi Jilly, contact Andy at DFCH as he has access to offline prices. Many Dibbers have saved substantially via him, there's nothing to pay at point of booking. Email him; Andy@discountfloridacarhire.co.uk with your dates and requirements

I think for travel next year it is more important than ever to keep a close eye on the prices and cancel/ rebook when they fall.

In the US in particular the car market is crazy right now due to the lack of chips limiting production and the car hire firms clearing out their inventory last year and now unable to replace. However this won’t last forever and given the massive demand, manufacturers will be doing all they can to get the factory’s churning out vehicles again as soon as they can. Once the car hire firms start being able to buy vehicles in bulk (at a ‘normal’ price) the prices should begin to fall. The question is when….

Agreed Rich, hence why booking via Andy may be wise as he doesn't take payment at time of booking, any price reduction is reflected in ones reservation My brother's used Andy for years. Luckily, as we have a motor on Bokeelia, we only need a hire if driving from/to MCO, but in the main we fly to Ft Myers and our pal picks us up.

Some of the car hire prices for next July on Autoeurope are looking like “normal” for that time of the year - Budget being an example. I’m holding out for Alamo though as want to pick up from Disney Car Care.

Personally I’d book with Budget now and cancel if/when Alamo’s prices come back down.
I don’t think the prices will be like it next year but what if they do stay the same. Would be worth an Uber to the airport to pick up the Budget car?

Email DFCH Andy with dates/hire company preference for offline rates. He contracts with major car suppliers, no payment at time of booking and reduces prices in line with supplier rates. Dibbers are reporting offline rates c50% lower than they're seeing online
