Whitney’s version of ‘I will always love you’ is better than Dolly’s original version.

Please note that I usually change the radio channel if either version comes on.

I really like the Metallica version of Whisky in the Jar. Far better than that of Thin Lizzy.. and their’s was a cover of an Irish folk song in any case.

‘Tainted love’ by Soft Cell is even better than the Gloria Jones original. (imho).

‘I say a little prayer’ by Aretha is even better than the Dionne Warwick original.

‘All along the watchtower’ sounds better by Jimi Hendrix than the original by Bob Dylan.

‘Hurt’ by Johnny Cash is better than the original by Nine Inch Nails.

Eva Cassidy’sversion of Somewhere over the rainbow is on another level.

I love Judy garlands version but there is something about the haunting beauty of Eva Cassidy’s voice.

Disturbed’s Sound of Silence takes the song to a whole new level compared to Simon & Garfunkel’s original.

Johnny Cash - Hurt (9 Inch Nails originally)

Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen)

Amy Winehouse - There is no greater love (so many others)

Some of my favourites that sprung to mind straight away.
