My daughter sent me a pic this morning, as she was on this railway!

What about Ruislip Lido beach that is very close to you and the water is crystal clear for swimming in?

From Whitstable you can walk 10 minutes along the front to Tankerton. This path is very wide and is great for strolling along. Keeping on this path will take you all the way to the edge of Herne Bay (up to the Hampton Inn). When we walk from Tankerton to the Hampton Inn, it usually takes about 45-60 minutes. From the Hampton Inn it goes to a standard sized path which takes you to the main seafront at Herne Bay. If you want to really tire your dog out, you can walk to Reculver Towers from Herne Bay, which is a 3.5 mile walk. If you don't fancy that far a walk, you can stay at Tankerton and use the chip shop there - it does really nice food. We live in Chatham, and sometimes we drive to Tankerton for the chips!
The great part of it is, that from Whitstable, all away along the coast you are walking next to the sea, so the views are lovely.
My eldest daughter works in The Hampton Inn😃.

Whitstable has its well known Oyster Festival from 27-30 August. Lots to do for all the family and a lovely day out. We've had Charles, Camilla and Pippa Middleton visiting the festival in the past.

Oysters are a bit posh for Sandra she is more of a KFC or Big Mac and fries girl.

I have had oysters twice in my life going to Australia first class and in Australia at my uncles exclusive club. (I was only 13) We had them on a cracker with hot sauce and they were vile! I actually like lobster and crab and prawns and eat loads in Florida, I wouldn’t set foot in Ruislip lido if you paid me! Never eat Big Macs only a cheeseburger and only eat kfc wraps.

Now I’m thinking of staying in Canterbury for the night and going around the whole area
