Recommendations for hotel in Cornwall please
It is my parents 50th wedding anniversary in June and they are/were supposed to be spending it at their apartment in Cyprus. Not sure if it will be happening, although they will both have had their 2nd jabs by then but who knows what our government will decide regarding travel (we are in NI).
If they can't get to Cyprus I was asking mum what she would like to do to mark the occasion and she mentioned that she would love to go back to Cornwall. We had a holiday there about 35 years ago and really enjoyed it and she said it would be lovely to go back and see it all again. I haven't started to look at the logistics of getting there (probably fly to Exeter and hire a car?). Dad is a confident driver and it wouldn't worry him. Just wondering if anyone can recommend a nice hotel? Something near a beach preferably. When we visited in the 80's we stayed in a new holiday complex in Perranporth, so ideally somewhere nearby would be great. I know UK holidays are booking up fast, but was hoping that there might be some availability in June before school hols.

Probably got more chance of getting a flight to Bristol (not sure what flights there are to Exeter after Flybe's collapse) and hiring a car from there. (It's all A roads and motorway from Bristol to Exeter). As Easyjet go from Belfast to Bristol.
Plenty of hotels and accommodation but it's all budget and availability. Newquay or St Austell aren't too far down with places to go from (about 2 hour drive from Bristol). Newquay has an airport but there isn't many scheduled flights if any at the moment. The Headland Hotel in Newquay looks amazing and right next to Fistral beach but Newquay has lots of accommodation. Can visit Tintagel and Padstow easily from there. Hope there are some ideas for you. |

I would be tempted to put the postcode into the premier inn website and see how close you can get. It’ll surely be the cheapest option as prices have gone crazy.

Hi, sadly I would agree there are very few flights into Exeter airport at the moment - we live very close and hear almost none any more. Hopefully that will improve soon but not sure it will be June. That said you may have already seen flights from their home town to Exeter that work
My favourite place in Cornwall is St Ives Also there is an airport in Newquay. No idea who flies into there at the moment (if anyone) but worth a look perhaps? Edited at 07:25 PM. |

Watergate bay hotel near Newquay. Absolutely stunning and right on the beach but it's definitely not cheap.

Only place for us and if it's a special treat then the Headland at Newquay is really good but eye watering expensive. You can walk onto Fistral beach or into Newquay and the hotel has loads of facilities
