The old Gwazi will always have a special place in my heart, as it was the first ride, in my first park (yea I know, not sure why it wasn't Disney!) on my first ever holiday. I remember screaming for the entire time with my eyes shut and I tensed up my whole body so much that I hurt like hell the next day. hahaha

Yes Gwazi was certainly rough,
The cars were very basic with virtually no padding. Came of it bruised and head pounding.

The smoothest I think is Cheetah at Busch and Mako at Seaworld.

My daughter ended up in the first aid room after riding Gwazi, she'd had her head thrown into the side of the seat and banged her ear. I remember when we got into the room the guy rolled his eyes when we told how it happened. To say he wasnt surprised is an understatement!

Gwazi was a bone shaker, and one of the few rollercoasters I have only ever ridden once! Dont be fooled into thinking iron gwazi will be anything like as uncomfortable as the old Gwazi! It will be smoother and likley to have inversions also.

However, if i ever do go back to orlando, this will be an absolute must ride for me! I have ridden an RMC hybrid that was converted from a ricketty old coaster, Untamed at Walibi Holland and it was fantastic a very comfortable ride.

I have also ridden Wildfire at Kolmarden Sweden which is a purpose built RMC and was also fantastic.

In fact next week I should be setting of to go to cedar point (and other parks) to ride Steel Vengence, which is probably the most well know RMC hybrid conversion coaster! - hopefully we can make it next year instead!

Gwazi was brutal! I remember going on it not long after it opened and came off with bruises!

I have fond memories of Gwazi it was the last roller coaster my late dad ever went on and how he moaned all the way around 😂😂😂 I remember him shouting from behind me that the McDonald’s we stopped for on the way to Busch was a bad idea😂😂😂😂

Dear lord in heaven, I thought I was not getting off this ride alive. Never in the history of roller coasters have I experienced so much pain on a ride.

Gwazi left me with a headache for most of the day! Really was not comfortable in the slightest. Excited to try out the new version and would be my first RMC too.

I was never a fan of them either but don’t let it put you off. Since I had ridden Gwazi, I’ve ridden a few that I actually enjoyed!

The newer woodies are much smoother.
