Yep, just checked the link to the Florida Highways website, under visiting Florida, you can use any country's permit as long as it displays the international symbol of accessibility. (the wheelchair symbol)

Florida DHSMV states only US issued out of state permits are valid and gives details of the application process for a temporary permit. The sticky thread at the top of the special needs forum quotes the law which requires UK visitors to have a temporary permit and this statute is posted on signs at disabled parking spaces. As borne out by the IDP saga you need to be sure the info you rely on online is accurate and up to date. The law changed in 2007.

Why not just comply with the law and not waste time and energy trying to find "ways around" them. Just because someone gets awy with something does not make it legal or ok. In USA we always try to comply with the law and all it will take is a diligent officer to spoil someones holiday.

Totally agree with you---if that's the law ,stick to it---a police officer came to chat with us one year and we had a great conversation and he said as he left--nice to see you have the USA permit, and we all had a laugh about it

Can I ask - do you still pay the parking charges at the parks if you have a tag?

This info is out of date. Another point to note is that EU blue badges now being issued do not have the wheelchair symbol on them.

Can you post a link to where it says this on their website.

All I can find on there is this

If I have a disabled parking permit, should I bring it with me when I visit Florida

Yes. We will honor any special license plate or parking permit issued to a disabled person by any other state or district subject to the laws of the United States, or by a foreign country that issues disabled parking permits that display the international symbol of accessibility.

After the fiasco with the IDP you would think they would keep their website up to date if this is old info
