BA balance due this week for October. Who’s paying?

So my balance is due for 16th October on Saturday, but there must be some people who’s balance is due tomorrow for the 11th. What’s everyone’s thoughts on paying? If we don’t then we won’t be entitled to a change next year at same price, just presumably the voucher for £350 deposit I paid.
I’m wanting to book somewhere else for October half term and the price has already increased by £200 since yesterday, but I just keep wondering why they haven’t cancelled flights after 10th October yet? Boris is flying to US today, are they thinking there’s a small change of it re-opening by October?

I’m sure I’ve read on the different threads on here that if you get to 3 weeks before arrival (which is usually balance due date) for BA flights, you can speak to them and they will refund you because the borders are closed. I’m sure someone will be along to confirm that soon.

I agree on wondering why they haven’t cancelled flights. I don’t get it. I want to book somewhere else too

The thing is though, most of us won’t want a refund, we want to move to next year. My Flights for the dates I want next year are over double the price of what I paid for this year.

At risk of being called negative or worse , I would say the chance of you going in October is just about zero. I would work on that assumption and do what you can to best save / reuse your deposit.

After the issues of still trying to get through to the holidays team over the last seven days I’m holding out for a refund after all this. I just can’t go through the pain of trying to get hold of them again if it got moved to next year. I shall give it my everything to get hold of them via email, chat, FB, text on Thursday to get me a refund. Relentlessly if it comes to it.
BA can shove it, I’d rather book with a local trusted travel agent in person and pay £1000 more but without the stress of repeatedly being told ‘our holiday team are busy, please call back or chat back later’.
Their customer service has been awful. I got through first attempt 10 days ago, but since then it’s been impossible. I have a legitimate reason to speak to them (I wanted to move the holiday) but no one is interested in helping me.

Exactly this - we are priced out next year as it stands so I am probably going to pay the balance and hope BA end up cancelling the flight - if not I know they will refund us

I’ve actually gone ahead and booked tampa flights for next summer (not the dates I really want and I ideally want to go to Orlando), just so that I’ve got something booked at a price I could swallow!

I’m still holding out that our October 23rd flights will get cancelled and then I can move that booking to the Orlando dates I actually want and then I’ll cancel our tampa flights.

It was keeping me up at night watching the prices increase and as there is a supposed sale on for a few more days, I was worried that the tampa prices were going to be out of my reach in a minute too otherwise.

It might mean that I end up with a £200 future travel voucher, but I will try my luck at booking a hotel with that, and if not I’ll use it for a holiday somewhere in 2023 👍

I think I have been through we are going, might be going, not going whirlwind more times that I’d like.

Would I still like to go on the 15th- yes, do I think that will be possible - ultimately no!

I’d like a refund as I’ve already booked for Feb and summer with BA and October with virgin.

I neither have the time or enthusiasm to spend hours getting through to BA so I’m hoping for a cancellation email and refund.

Really hope for those travelling earlier than in the week than me that BA starts sorting everyone out.

We are BA too but for November. Balance due 3rd nov.

If the flights are cancelled do you automatically get a refund of deposit paid? We’ve only paid £150 for our flights and hotels

My balance is due 6th November. So watching to see what will be happening with yours. I've paid deposit only so far.
