Any suggestions for a 3-year old's birthday in DLP?
We are off to DLP on DD's 3rd Birthday on 30th May. Any suggestions for anything special for her or her 5-year old sister?

They do a birthday tea party - I haven't been because ti wasn't on when we went for Katie's birthday, but a friend has been and her dd really enjoyed it.

They do a birthday tea party at Plaza Gardens(?) on the corner at the end of Main Street. We did it for my DS' 4th Birthday. It was lovely, and he had a little toy Mickey which sang Happy Birthday and saw a few rare characters - Pinocchio & Timon being his favourites. The thing I would say about the party was that there were around 15 other children having their birthdays too - they brought the cakes out all together very quickly - and they all seemed to have 3 candles on them which DS wasn't too happy about. It didn't seem as special as the previous year when we booked a character breakfast at Walt's (we were leaving at midday) with a cake ordered. Well, Minnie & Goofy brought his cake for him and made a huge fuss, this is when he was a bit shyer, and they really took care of him. It was wonderful.
Another suggestion that is supposed to be special is an evening meal at Inventions in the DL Hotel with a cake. I saw this happening when I stayed there and this looked lovely too. Or Cafe Mickey's in the Village. Sorry this answer is really long, I hope it helps. Whatever you do there is special anyway. |

we had a meal at Inventions for katie's 4th birthday - she's 7 now, so it was a while ago, but they didn't do cakes there then - we had a big mess up, and were expectinga cake which never arrived, so it was all a bit of a disaster. In the end, we had the characters come out and sing for her, but no cake - and then they did do the cake fro us back at the Cheyenne, no characters, but they made a huge fuss of her.
The other thing about the Inventions was teh food was a lot of raw seafood which I don't really like. It was one of the best places for actually seeing the characters though, very orderly, no scrums, and they spent a lot of time with each child. |

Thanks for your suggestions.
We did the Plaza Garden's Tea the last time we were there. Lots of people were having birthdays and I agree with you that it seemed rushed. The characters were rare (the Cat and the Fox from Pinochio, the Friar from Robin Hood, Smee, King John - a funny mix). We have done Innovations too - we loved it the first time but were a bit disappointed last time. The raw sea food Bev is just one of the counters - we are not sea food fans either - there is turkey/chicken/pork etc on the others. From your suggestions it looks like it will have to be Walt's this time for the birthday - and Cafe Mickey's for an evening meal. Are there any character meals in the Disney Studios does anyone know?

We were there for my DSs second birthday and I struggled to find anything suitable. The birthday meal at the Plaza Gardens wasnt open on his actual birthday, we had done Cafe Mickey the day before (OK on characters but awful food!). In the end, we simply did the FantasyLand breakfast and let him go on all the rides early on.
I asked for a cake at dinner, but we didnt get one, there were no "birthday badges" and overall it was a very disappointing experience. Im just glad he wasnt any older, as being 2, he really didnt have much idea that it was his birthday anyway. |

Hmm - we got a birthday sticker when we were there - it was in French, but it did get my dd a lot of Happy Birthday s- but like i say, it was 4 years ago.
I had prebooked a birthday package, to include a cake (which was a farce), and a present and some other stuff, the present was a small stuffed toy, and we might have got the sticker as a part of that - I honestly can't remember, but I do remember her having it and getting people saying hello to her. |
