question about time needed left on passport?

Hi can anybody please tell me how much time we need left on an adult and childs passport to travel to Portugal.

Any help will be appreciated

i think it is normally six months after the return date.

I guess it will have to be 2 new passports for our trip in july then

For europe it only needs to be valid for the time you are away,i rang the passport office last week as ds18 is off to magaluf in august and his passport runs out in september and they said it was fine.

You best check with the Portuguese embassy to be on the safe side though. France is like the poster above said , but other countries might be different.
