Another thought, speaking from experience , make sure the car they choose is exactly right for their needs, as they will be driving it around for the next 3 years!
In exceptional circumstances, Motability will take a car back early, but this doesn't happen often. Hope your parents get sorted relatively easily |

We are in the process of changing our first car with motability, and can't praise them enough. When i called them last year and explained that our current car wasn't big enough and safety was an issue, they ended the contract straight away and let us search for a new vehicle.
When we had our accident last year they again were brilliant sorted everything out for us, and made sure we were ok. The scheme is something i would definately recommend, no pitfalls, just problem free motoring. |

Many thanks to you all for taking the time to reply with your experiences. I've passed them all onto my parents.
Think they are going on Wednesday to look at a car. They want me to go with them. I've already told my Mum to get in and out of it a few times to see if she can manage. She really struggles at the moment getting in and out of their focus Thanks again! |

That's good to hear. Also, lots of dealers run the scheme so they don't necessarily have to stick with one make and it's a good idea to try different makes, especially as they find it difficult to get in and out. This is something my mum and I have problems with, hence I now drive a zafira instead of an astra because we step up into it rather than bumping down or falling into a lower down car and needing help to get pulled out everywhere we go

Update...
Off we trundled on Wednesday to our local Ford dealers and spent a couple of hours there. Poor salesman, i researched the car they were interested in ( Ford Grand C Max) and bombarded him with questions! Luckily they had the car in the showroom so we all took turns getting in and out of it. Mum found it easy and I could tell she sooo wanted it! They didn't have any automatics in stock so i took the manual demonstrator for a spin. Mum was quite happy to stay and wait at the dealers so Dad came with me. Lovely to drive and dad liked the fact he was higher off the ground. Mum and Dad asked my opinion and were quite happy to order the car on my word! Hope they like it! Dad also had a go at taking Mums mobility scooter in and out of the boot. He liked it as it didn't have a lip to the boot and therefore not to much strain on his back. Unfortunately they are made to order so they can't have it until around September. But considering a week ago they thought they were stuck for years with a car that neither of them like very much or found very comfortable, they don't mind waiting a few months So, many thanks for your replies, Mum was very grateful Michelle x |

We have a Ford s- max on the Mobility Scheme, and it has been a god send. We have two children and also needed a high car for DH to get in and out and plenty of boot space. The Car has given Dh a new lease of life and he can get in and out of the car unaided which he couldnt do in our old car.
I havent reallly found any negatives yet with the Scheme and hope it can long continue as we could not afford a car like this with out it. Hope they enjoy the car. |

We have a Ford Grand C Max on the mobility scheme. We have had it 2 months now and we love it.
We have had the C Max twice before. We like the large boot space as our dd has a wheelchair. The sliding doors on the new model makes it much easier for her to get in and out of the car. We can't fault the service we have had through the mobility scheme. Hope your mum and dad have many happy miles of motoring in their new car. Ali.
