ID required when driving
I used to carry my passport while driving to supplement my paper driving licence. Now I've finally upgraded to a card licence am I right that the card is enough on it's own ? I'd rather leave the passport in the safe.

We're in Lee County, circa 150 miles SW of Orlando, apparently areas differ re additional ID. Our Sheriff Deputy pal advised; as part of Lee County Sheriff's Office training, officers are taught to request pp's from non US residents irrespective of driving licence type. Our B2 visa holding pp's are locked away upon arrival, I deem them too important a document to carry around in a vehicle.

I carry my Photocard driving licence and thats it.
I don't take any other form of ID as the Passports are kept in the safe. As Chris says they are far too valuable a document to be carrying around if you can help it. I suppose I could take my Welsh Assembly Govt bus pass. But there again half of that is in Welsh!

As others have basically said our passports go into the villa safe within 10 minutes of arriving and don't come out until 10 minutes before we leave.
I have a special D/L though as it's the second post-70 renewal. It says beware "old geezer driving" OP - seriously though your ID has to be an official government issued document such as your P/P or photocard D/L. I don't think that an employer's ID card will be enough. Mick
