Packable Jackets, Stiff Bananas and Crossings to Africa! (Jan/Feb 2019) Day 7

Day 7- Thursday 31st January 2019

Today was Fudge’s 11th Birthday! We really miss him when we are on holiday – here is a few pictures of him on his own holiday. We sent birthday pressies with him, and the dogsitter got him some too.

Doesn’t look like he is missing us much?! He gets up at least once in the night with us to go out, and is always up at about 6am needing to go again. On holiday – goes to be at 10pm and gets up between 7-9am, and doesn’t go out in the night. Our dog sitter is some sort of incredible dog whisperer! She says Fudge is her favourite guest and best friend, and is overjoyed to be having him no less than 3 times this year.

Our alarm went off at 6.15am as we had a breakfast reservation at Be Our Guest. Whilst getting ready, we enjoyed the first of many TV clips of ‘stiff bananas’. It was so cold across some of the northern USA that leaving a banana outside meant that it would freeze and could be used as a hammer, or missile. It was also so cold in some places that people couldn’t go outside because their eyeballs would freeze! Despite my many grumbles, it wasn’t quite that cold in Florida.

In fact, it was marginally warmer than yesterday, but there was a strong wind blustering around. See photo evidence below!

It was a bad hair day for me.

We had our usual BOG breakfast because we are predictable souls. Veggie quiche for Dave and a cronut for me. It was super busy and we struggled to find a table initially - then at 8.50am the place emptied! I wonder why?!

We rode Prince Charming’s Carousel, It’s a Small World, and then did our first FP+ for Pirates of the Caribbean. Dave said he didn’t feel very well, and I thought he was pretty quiet. I suggested we cancel the rest of our FP+ plans and go back to POFQ for a rest, then reevaluate later in the day. He didn’t take much persuading so he must really not have been feeling good.

We chilled in the room and snacked on some Ritz crackers, having a few hot drinks to keep warm. I also managed to reschedule our California Grill reservation for this evening for later in our holiday.

Dave said he felt a bit better after a rest, and felt up to a walk around Disney Springs. We got the bus there, and did some shopping for family and friends, spending the gift card we had received with our holiday booking.

We got the boat to Riverside to eat there, and had the hilarious Captain Randy. He was a hoot! It was much quieter in the dining hall than the last time we went. I had a create your own pasta, and Dave had a flatbread. In this food court, all allergy orders have to be put through one window – this was awkward as I had made my order at the pasta station, then had to take it to the window, to go back to the pasta station with the chef. Anyway the food was great – warm and filling which was important! We did a bit more shopping in the gift shop there and then walked back up to POFQ.

With it being so cold every day, we were running out of fleeces and trousers! I decided to attempt the laundry for the first time ever at a Disney resort. Well – it was easy! No bother whatsoever and easy to monitor on my phone, and we were glad to have a fresh supply of clothes for cold weather.

We snuggled up in bed to watch Dr Pimple Popper on TLC – I am a massive fan! We had a beer and some M&Ms, and chilled out for the rest of the evening.

Tomorrow – snacks, all the rides and goodbye Illuminations…
