The Haunting Sequel - Day 17 - Dining with Scareactors and HHN

Day 17 – Saturday

If you had seen the planner, today we were meant to go to Seaworld.
But today had other plans.

We woke up, Dave had a migraine. I had strangely sore hips. Very strange, lots of parts of me hurt regularly, but my hips was a new one. I put it down to the walking, and standing so much last night.
We couldn’t do much with Dave having a migraine, so we stayed in bed. We snoozed and chilled until 1pm, so Seaworld was out the window. I don’t think we could possibly have done another park at that point.

While we were chilling in bed, to make up for us missing Seaworld, I decided to book Scareactor dining for tonight for 6pm.

We finally shifted ourselves and went downstairs for some lunch. We both went for noodle bowls. You pick the veg you want and they add protein, so chicken, beef or tofu, and a choice of noodles. They gave us a buzzer and brought the food to our table. With drinks it came to $40 and was probably too much food for a lunch, especially when we had dinner booked.

Then we went to upgrade our tickets to annual passes. We did this in the hotel. Because we had three park tickets which we planned to use, we had to upgrade to the 3 park APs. We got Dave the cheapest one and paid more for mine to get shopping discounts.

They did cost us more than we had expected/hoped, but we figured if we do go back it will save us money (hint, it will)

We looked around the hotel for a while, we went up to the rooftop bar. We didn’t stay long, as being on the 17th floor made Dave feel a bit funny.

We changed and headed out to HHN again. Went to Sapphire Falls for the boat, but the queue was massive. We decided to walk to RPR and get the boat from there. It probably took as long as we would have been waiting but no queue at RPR, and it meant we had already passed security.

We were sent to the Blue Man Group entrance to get in for Scareactor dining. We were then escorted from there to Monsters Café.
The food was a buffet. There was a decent selection. We had corn on the cob, chicken marsala, beef medallions, Dave also had salmon and pork. We both had cheesecake.

We saw about 4 or 5 scareactors during dinner.

The witch from the Scarey Tales house was really good, she made Dave worship me, which I enjoyed immensely. But the best was Igor, who was really superb. It was $50, and we’re not entirely sure it was worth the price, but we did enjoy it.

When we came out, we had a bit of a wander, and went to Mels Drive In to reinstate our refill cups. Was $8 each. We couldn’t get an AP discount, as we hadn’t actually used our AP yet, so they will be valid from first use tomorrow, for 366 days.

Mels looked good, and we want to eat there for dinner at some point.
Our first house tonight was Halloween 4. We had watched this recently which I think helped with understanding the house. Michael Myers always scares me. No jumps for Dave though. Typical.
Next was Seeds of Extinction. This was very well done, and kinda creepy. Not lots of jumps, even for me, but I enjoyed it. I spotted what I think was a nod to Stranger Things in here, a rack of baseball caps, like the ones the kids wear.

Dead Exposure was next, again, well done, but not a lot of scares.
Blumhouse was next. We didn’t really get it. We haven’t seen either Happy Death Day or the First Purge. We could work out which half was which film, but we didn’t find the first half scary. The second half, the Purge, we hardly saw any scareactors. I think it was break time.
We went through Trick R Treat again, I was glad we had watched the film before we went, it made more sense. It was very cute and well themed.

By now we were flagging a bit, and had filled our cups a few times. We decided to watch the 10.30 show of Academy of Villains. It was packed and the seats were very close together. The girl in front of me had long bushy hair, which was basically on my knee the whole time. I kept trying to move it but felt like I was pulling her hair.

The show itself was incredible. It was so good. They pulled a couple of kids out of the audience to dance, and they were both so good I wondered if they were planks.

Our next house was Scary Tales, which had a short queue, and we enjoyed it again. I really liked this one, it smelled like a bakery at the start, like they were cooking pies. I thought it looked impressive, if not particularly scary.

We took a walk through the Killer Klowns scarezone. Although it wasn’t scary, it was good fun. The shop in the scarezone (it’s there during the day too, just where it’s located) had some really interesting things, and some interesting prices, ie $5000 for signed things from Back to the Future. Then we went through Vamp 85, which was almost deserted, but the scareactors seemed to avoid us. We wondered if it was the camera.

We followed with Stranger Things. The queue said 105 minutes, which was the shortest we had seen it yet. We said we would give it 30 minutes in the queue to see how far in we got. We were in and out in that time.

There were some very annoying kids behind us who had no concept of personal space. They kept bumping into and touching me. I moved in front of Dave, and they did it to him. He said they were touching him during the house so much he thought they were trying to get into his backpack, so he took it off. Very annoying.

The house was fab. The scareactors were so good, and so similar to the actors in the show, I almost thought they were really them. I got some good jump scares from the demogorgons. Very good house. So glad again that we watched it before we went. Hope they have it again this year.

We noticed it very hot in the queues for the houses. We made a note to take small fans next year.
