What is it with scones lately. A friend posted on facebook that her neighbour had just popped round with some homemade cheese scones and that made me want some...then i come on here this evening and here it is again..a conversation about scones. Note to self... pop into town tomorrow and get some scones... especially cheese ones

They are! OH has had them. Can't say I'd recommend unless entirely necessary?! They taste a bit 'short' due to the lack of gluten

I was about to say exactly the same as Pixie - I've never had a pre-packed scone that didn't have a strange after-taste.

I'm all for buying desserts that would take forever to make at home / require technical know-how that I just don't have / cost more to buy the ingredients than to buy them ready-made / leave the kitchen like a bomb site, but I always make scones rather than buy. They take 10 mins (and about the same to cook), only use ingredients that are already in the cupboard, can't really go wrong, and taste so much nicer homemade. My 9 yr old is having an afternoon tea with her friends this week - she made her own scones tonight, no trouble, but I'm not looking forward to the chaos of making the other desserts with her tomorrow!
