Insurance whilst on waiting list
Can anyone recommend a company who might cover me for our February trip?
I have an annual policy with insure and go that they will not renew as I am on a waiting list to have my gall bladder removed, on top of all of my other PEMC's. I have until next Wednesday to claim on my current policy if I have to cancel.

I’m afraid as an otherwise healthy 24 year old I could only find cover with Zurich for like £400 for a week in Portugal, but I just did a few quotes on compare the market. Unfortunately once you have stones and they are recommending you to have the gall bladder out it makes you a massive risk to them! Once you’ve had said surgery though the risk returns to normal

Hmm, I suppose I'll have to find out how soon after surgery they would let me travel. I have found one company who will exclude the gall bladder but insure everything else.
Not convinced that is overly sensible though.

I have some rare PEMC and found insurancewith.com very good, and far cheaper than others. Most wouldn't insure me but these did after thorough online screening. Can't guarantee it for you but worth a try.

I got insurance with Insure and go when I was on the waiting list for gallbladder surgery. I think I paid about £450 for family policy but both DH & DS both have medical conditions that we also pay a premium for so I didn’t think that was too bad.

Going on my personal experience with gall stones and an infected gall bladder, described by the surgeon as "ready to explode", I would not want to be 30,00 feet in the air for 10 hours, nor 4,500 miles from home for 2 weeks.

I had my gallbladder out mid June 2017 and travelled to US early Aug same year - so 6-7 weeks or so. My insurance company was ok w that.

Thanks for all the input, I agree that there is no way that I would want that pain whilst on a flight.
