New york is an incredible place... I worried before I went as we were going for a wedding and it wasn't on my wish list for places but these days its high on my list to go back to. It's amazing.
I would go to Ellen's star dust diner as its full of Broadway singers and the food was great - it'll get you in the mood for disney as we were lucky enough to have a few disney songs chucked in too. Great for all ages. Central Park is beautiful so definitely worth a visit. There is so much to do and a lot of things can be cheap or even free so I wouldn't cancel. I'm sure you'll love it x |

I LOVE New York! and as others have said there is lots that you can do for free or very cheaply! I spent 8 days there and it wasn't long enough so you wouldn't have a problem finding enough for a few days inexpensively I stayed in a hotel called the Pennsylvania right opposite Madison Square Garden and a few blocks from the Empire State Building - it had a very impressive lobby and then pretty basic rooms by comparison but everything we needed and its such an easy city to get around that the location worked very well - I can't wait until I get to go back and re visit!

Was that the Mariott by World Trade Centre 1? We stayed there and it was cheaper than staying up near Times Square but still a great location and near loads of subway stops so easy to get around.
There was a reasonably cheap place to eat called Bills Bar round the corner that we ate in quite a few times as well. OP - we've been to New York and LOVED it! There is loads of great advice on this thread but I'd definitely say go and see what you think as I'm sure you'll love it too.

We took ds10 and dd15 last year on the way home from Orlando, they both loved it and want to go back. We did walk lots but they coped well and it was August so it was really hot. Just plan for a couple of attractions and then fit sights around them.
