We could just catch the Lion King the day we arrive. We arrive early so should be able to do it.
We have MATM booked

It’s the best show at DLP. It’s in the Studios park in the old Animagique theatre next to the Aladdin’s flying carpets! Definitely not to be missed!✨🪄

Most people say that as long as you're OK getting there between 30 mins and an hour before hand then you'll get in just fine. I think the paying to reserve a place probably makes most sense for those people who only have a day or two in the parks, and can't afford to lose an hour waiting.

I've also read a few reports of the Lion King show especially having technical issues & being canceled last minute after people have waited. So it might be best to not leave it till the last day in case this happens!
