Day out in Cheshire
We went to Jodrell Bank and really enjoyed it. We went many years ago but it had been updated very recently. There is now “Dome Show” which is a theatre with comfy seats and a ceiling depicting the various stars/galaxies. A very experienced staff member gave a talk (about 45 mins) about the stars, black holes, planets and rings which was easy to follow and most interesting and we learned a lot. As to be expected, it was a bit above the heads of under five year olds.
When it was over we had a light lunch in the adjoining cafe followed by a walk around outside to see the Lovell telescope, and other outside telescopes. There is also an interactive indoor area which appeals to most ages. The admission tickets are not expensive. They are annual tickets which obviously can be used for twelve months and the Dome Show is extra. Well worth it and a good day out. DS has bought himself a telescope! |
