Wheelchair strollers in restaurants
Hi all,
We’ll be travelling in August with my 6 year old son who has disabilities and uses a wheelchair buggy. I intend to get a tag so that we can take it into the queues etc but it’s just suddenly dawned on me - what about restaurants? We have a couple of TS booked. He can transfer out of his buggy and sit in a normal chair if needed but I’m concerned about what then happens to the buggy. I’m a bit paranoid about it being left out in the open and someone taking it as, obviously it wasn’t cheap and we rely heavily on it. I can’t believe the thought never entered my head before but it’s the first time we’ve travelled with him in his chair so it’s all new to me. Thanks Edited at 08:47 AM. |

In 2018 we got a tag for DGS ordinary buggy. He could usually walk ok for a 4 year old but had a clicky hip which caused intermittent problems and started to play up quite badly while we were there. We were able to take the buggy into restaurants with no problem just the same as you would with a wheelchair.

Thanks.
From what I remember the tables at most restaurants were fairly close (though that was pre covid) so i’m wondering if it’s going to cause a problem in terms of getting to the table. We haven’t noted it on our reservations and I can’t see anywhere to add it retrospectively. |

Hi
Have you thought about putting an alarm on the buggy, I bought the one below from Amazon for about £20 for my electric wheelchair and attached it with a couple of cable ties incase I have to leave it somewhere I don’t feel comfortable- it is very loud. Mengshen Wireless Bicycle Motorcycle Alarm, Waterproof Anti-Theft Security Sensor Alarm with 113dB Super Loud Sound, 7 level Sensitivity (2 Remote Control Included)
