Canadian ETA
Please let me double check something, as I think I’m stressing myself out for no good reason (again).
We are going to Canada at the end of August. We were last there in 2019 at which point we applied for (and got) ETAs as required. These are usually valid for 5 years. We are both still using the same passports we had when we applied. I’ve checked the status of both on the ETA website and both are showing as “approved” with a 2024 expiration date (which I’d expect as we got them in 2019). We are ok to travel under these, correct? I’m just paranoid they might have been cancelled when international travel stopped because of COVID. I can’t find anything to say they would have been, but I would appreciate the sense check here! I thought I’d read that the US may have cancelled ESTAs, which has put doubt in my mind.

Sure it's OK. We just got our first ones and they're definitely valid 5 years. I was impressed how quick and easy it was too!
Have a wonderful trip. What are your plans?

Thank you! I’m thinking I might need to do a first pre-trip report to force me into deciding what to do each day, because apart from booking the various hotels on vancouver island, I haven’t planned beyond that!
Good shout, thank you!

We applied for ours in June 2019 when we first went to Canada & the 2 out of 4 of us who still had the same passports used them again in May 2022.
Have a wonderful time. |
