Last time i flew from MCO it was absolute chaos so trying to minimise stress.
You can normally but it wasn't open in June when we flew back (we were in upper so like you it would be free) but, to be honest, security at MCO was OK in normal lanes

LAX is a mess and I am (was) dreading JFK

DH had it with the grandkids when he flew home end of July I didn’t when I flew home August 3rd apparently staffing issues they then opened up 2 more lanes at general security got the dogs out so it nothing out the bags don’t take shoes off through in 5 mins
