I made some bark today. I'd forgotten how difficult it is to bash the candy canes without showering it all over the kitchen and without turning them to dust. Anyone got any tips for this? I just use my rolling pin and bash them on my chopping board. Is there a better way that doesn't mean I'm picking up miniscule pieces of candy cane for days on end?

I was beginning to think it wasn't worth it...but then I did a taste test of the finished bark and it was yummy.

This one had some rather chunky pieces of candy cane as I'd given up on the bashing and just decided to go with what I had.

I put the candy canes in a sandwich bag and use a hammer rather than a rolling pin. I'd tried a rolling pin but it was too noisy!

Thanks all. I'll definitely try a hammer next time.

Looks delicious 😋
I pop in a sandwich bag and hand it to my DH to crush 😂

I made another batch today, used a sandwich bag and it was easy peasy! Thanks all for the tips.
