Do you scrub your spuds?
Serious question.
I was home today before DW so thought I'd put some jacket potatoes in the oven. DW walked in whilst I was giving them a good scrub with the rough side of the cloth to get rid of any dirt and blemishes and gave me the funniest look whilst asking what I was doing. When I explained she just said I was daft. So do you scrub your spuds?

If they are jacket potatoes then always as I don't want to eat the crud that maybe lurking on them. I never wash them before peeling though but I do always give the peeled potatoes a wash in the colander.

Yes, definitely but they are usually straight out of the garden. I still wash shop bought ones though. I always wash all veg. I thought everyone did

Only if they have dirt on.
For jackets I do what my grandad used to do, give them a quick wash, get some salt on my hands and rub it all over the skin.

I don't scrub jackets but I do give them a quick wash and cut off any not nice bits, as the spuds we get are already 'clean'
If I peel the same potatoes I do still wash them after peeling. I do remember my mum getting paper sacks of 'dirty' potatoes delivered, now they really DID need a scrub! Such hard work!

Apparently MIL told DW to stick them straight in the oven as the heat kills the bugs. She also uses shop bought prewashed salad straight out of the bag I was everything 😁

Well, she's got a point
- it's more any bits of soil still lurking in the eyes and folds making the spud have gritty-surprises that bother me!
