AKL? No, let’s go to West Midlands Safari Park and stay in a Safari Lodge
So in February after reading on here that WMSP now had Safari Lodges available to book and having a big birthday to celebrate we booked to stay in a Rhino lodge, the lodges come with 2 days access to all of the park, DH didn’t want to drive our car through the Animal enclosures so we added on their Safari drive through for £7pp
So, on Tuesday this week we drove to the West Midlands to spend 2 days visiting relatives we haven’t seen since pre Covid and on Thursday we arrived at WMSP around 11am, we checked in and we’re given 4pm as the time our lodge would be available. At midday we joined the Safari drive through, there were 7 of us on the mini bus and as it was to celebrate my birthday the driver Don let us sit up front with him! I’m so glad we decided to do this, Don was so knowledgeable about the animals and the park and he was so good with the children on the tour, letting them feed the giraffes through the bus windows The drive through took about an hour and a half, then we got a bite of lunch and wandered around the other part of the park, then the main event, we were taken to our lodge, it was a real wow moment, the lodges are done so beautifully, with little touches like African wall art, binoculars, a record player and a selection of vinyl records, all your food is delivered to your door in hampers and was lovely, we had ground floor and first floor balconies looking out across the rhino enclosure, we could also see zebra, giraffes, antelopes and we could hear the lions roaring The next morning lodge guests get a private sea lion training session and then you get the rest of the day to do as you wish, overall we’ve had a fabulous time and I’m so glad I read about it on here, I’d highly recommend it, almost the AKL! I’m not sure how much a room there to sleep 6 in two bedrooms would cost, but I think we had a bargain |
