According to new data from the Chicago Police Department, there have been 239 homicides and 971 shootings in the city this year through the end of May.

So the stats are already a month behind. Remind me never to go there!

and yet twitter is full of the typical gun lovers highlighting there was a shooting in Denmark...so gun laws can't work if there was a shooting there... so thick its infuriating

I’ve been and can confirm it’s a violent city. The train journey from the airport is a real eye opener and don’t open the windows ( stray bullets!)

Wear sun glasses to avoid all eye contact.

I’m not sure the US will ever learn. If kids getting killed in schools isn’t enough for them to tighten their gun laws then nothing will be 😢

Try Detroit ! Though the only place I have been truly frightened in the US was san Diego at night wrong turn off

Highland Park is 26 miles from downtown Chicago.

Never seen any trouble anywhere tourists are likely to be.

Chicago is a fantastic city to visit on holiday.
