The new suite looks much nicer than the original room, good idea to change before you had unpacked.

Im loving your dedication to the trip report. Wow, there was a lot of buffet today! It looks like a good selection for breakfast and lunch, but slightly overwhelming a first, you just need to get into your groove.

What is this? A mocktail? Nope never heard of it, don't want to see it repeated! Of course it tasted like mouthwash - that's karma for you.

I hope you are enjoying the laid back beach, buffet, book and then repeat life! It sounds like bliss.

Birmingham airport sounded quite stress free, as did the flight once you blocked off the shortcutters How weird to have no description on the menu just beef or chicken – I don’t like curry so I’d have been a bit disappointed. Love the new slippers!

Your new room looks nice and a great balcony. I think you’re right to stay away from that swim up bar

Hope you have a relaxing time with no more buffet stress!

That is a lot of food available! And cocktails🤣 So nice to just relax and do nothing but eat, drink and read!

Loving the new room. It really suits us much better.
I am trying to keep up on this one and hopefully finish the Malta one. Then I need to catch up on like 6 months of reading other ones!

I know, mocktails, the shame of it.
It was all about being sensible. Completely backfired on me

Very much enjoying the complete downtime. It’s such a change for us but very nice.

Not long for you now

We were impressed by the Birmingham experience. Definitely struck lucky I think. There had been an issue with the catering which had delayed the flight. So I think was a surprise to the crew as well
We are having a relaxing time

It is so nice doing very little. I’m hoping we might get away again at the end of the year, maybe one of our more usual holiday types, but for now this is perfect. And you know we love our food but even for us this is

Day 2. Sunrise, Bingo surprise and choices unwise

Today is Sunday.

Well obviously today is actually Thursday but the trippy day is Sunday. I’m just writing that so I keep track … the days are whizzing by

I was up around 5, which has become my new habit this trip, and sat watching the sunrise on the balcony.

I do love this time.

I can’t say it’s quiet as the birds are noisy and the ocean is really loud but it’s that amazing peacefulness of no people noise.

This is my time of day now to write my notes, catch up on news at home and drink my coffee .

Getting that coffee has become an art form with the dodgy gadget too. Quite a knack to it. But it’s lovely. The coffee here is so good.

I have no breakfast pics for today.

I went with cereal and toast and Andy was similar.
I think the rich dinner last night and all the other food had left us still feeling quite full.

We bagged a similar spot by the pool and were settled in for the day.

We did try the swim up bar as soon as it opened (yes, it’s 10 am but I’ve been up 5 hours so that’s lunchtime right).

There were only a handful of people there at the start. We exited before it was busy!

I had a Sunrise.

No pic as I absolutely cannot trust myself to have my phone and be in the water. It’s totally a Dr Pepper moment waiting to happen.

Andy decided to go all fancy and have a brandy chocolate milkshake that he saw someone else getting.

Of course it is very hot out here.

Not as hot as the UK that day but still hot.

And it’s a milky drink.

He had a few sips and then as you do, left it for a bit.
Had some more and said he thought it tasted it a bit weird, a few more and said hmm, maybe I will leave it

So that was the end of that. Back to G&T.

We took a couple of drinks back to the lounger.

So as to pace myself I had another mocktail - clearly not learning from yesterday - and Andy went for a Pina Colada.

The Merengue was less mouthwash like than yesterday.
It was very refreshing if a bit syrupy towards the end.

I think my mocktail adventures will end there. I’m just drawn to these green drinks

Terrible views ensued for the next few hours

and I was hooked on my book. Very well written story.

We watched the water aerobics - people were really getting into it. Far too exhausting.

Lunch is always over in the smaller restaurant so it gets busy even though it’s on from 12-4.

We had a lovely seat looking out over the beach.

I went for a pasta salad.

Andy tried some ribs but found them a bit dry. Not very photogenic either.

Desserts today were all on point. A lemon meringue, plain tapioca and something like a mini baklava. They were all lovely.

A quick stop at the bar for another Sunrise.

Fast becoming a favourite. It’s very refreshing.

A bit more time at the pool and a final stop in the pool bar ( seat side). Daiquiri for me.

A bit of downtime before dinner. Andy wasn’t feeling too brilliant.

We decided on the buffet tonight so we could pick some less rich foods.

It does look an amazing spread.

I went very beige with some grilled chicken, baked potato, some chicken fried rice and chicken pasta and some plantain. It was all nice. Quite plain but all nice.

Andy really wasn’t feeling like anything and went for home comfort of chips and gravy.

Never one to pass on desserts the evening choices were hit and miss. The dark chocolate cake a bit dense, the banana and cream mousse was too sickly for me but the crème caramel and mini caramel almond sponge were lovely.

We had a wander round the resort again, finding the last restaurant which is tucked away a bit near the beach.

The pools close at 7pm so it was very peaceful.

There is a pool party 4 nights a week but it’s at one of the other sister hotels . There are two hotels either side of us in the resort complex. One has a water park and the other hosts this pool party.

We decided to check out the casino.

Very small and slightly odd having a bingo table next to the card tables. It was also too early really and it lacked atmosphere. We spent a bit of time, lost some money and decided to try the La Boheme bar which looks a bit burlesque.

It was also bingo time in there as we were handed a card as soon as we sat down at the bar.

Absolutely hilarious half an hour with an utterly bonkers bingo caller and clearly regulars who all piled in, knew all the cues and generally had a good time and then left. It was hysterical

Saga holidays here we come. Bingo at the bar. Whatever shall we do next.

I’d ordered a Baileys but couldn’t drink it as I was feeling a bit queasy and Andy was definitely feeling off colour so we called and end to our somewhat random Sunday!

I love the bingo experience! And the drinks look fab. Not sure about Andy’s chips and gravy though🤣

Hope you are both back to firm on Monday!
