We went a few years ago - would recommend downhill biking - great morning trip easy even for those who aren’t used to bike riding .
We went on the bus to Barcelona .Really liked Salou much more than I expected to .

Portaventura/Ferrari land are well worth a visit.
Also caribe water park next door.
Aquopolis water park is in La Pineda, have never visited though but on our list for next time.
Local buses are excellent value, buy a T10 card from bus plana or a tobacconist (just one card per family needed) and top up with journeys, it’s half the price as paying cash and one fare for any ride. They stop outside the theme park, go to local areas and Tarragona.
Train, you have 2 options, the train station near portaventura, buy at the station, preferably in advance or the tarragona fast train, more options, you can book online and gets you there quicker but you will need a taxi to get you to the station. Dd and her bf used the portaventura train with no problem.
Also bus plana do various trips (zoo, fountains etc) and just transport there, more expensive but leaves from the main road.
Bosc adventura is brilliant, first time we went this visit, it’s go ape style with 4 different difficulties, plus paintball, trampolining and archery, all in the shade.
We love Salou, have a great holiday.

Well, we are just back from our Salou trip and had a great time. Only had 6 full days and needed some days just chilling by the pool, but in between that we did 2 days at the excellent Port Aventura/Ferrariland and had a great trip around Barcelona through Bus Plana. Wish we had longer and would have gone to Tarragona and some other local places - next time, though!

Me and the kids all rated this as our fave coaster ever - no gimmicks, no loops, just a fast, high, smooth, up and down and twisty rollercoaster ride.
