Back in 2014, we did a split stay - one week onsite in a Disney moderate resort and one week offsite on I Drive - and it cost just about £5K, not including food and spends and Universal tickets which were a present.
Next year, we’ll be booking another split stay similar to the above and it looks like it’ll cost just over £6K for the same sort of thing. So a £1K increase in 9 years. That’s not too bad. Unfortunately I won’t get the proper free dining at Disney like we got last time so our spends will be more. And we’ll now have to buy those Universal tickets which will mean another ~£900 for the 3 of us.

We've been many times... and this is the first time we are going and not doing Disney. We are doing BG/SW and Universal this time and all those tickets were still cheaper than the 14 day base Disney tickets before all the extra spends are put on at Disney.
I'm actually quite looking forward to something completely different and so are the kids now they are bit older (though we've still booked a MNSSH party in case I had withdrawal symptoms). We got really lucky and our August Orlando trip this year is cheaper than our usual August Orlando trip... but I can't see us returning to Disney going forward unless the queues really do drop off. I'm happy to pay a premium and ride everything I want as many times as I want... but I'm not paying a premium and still have big queues or sit around for 4 hours in a virtual queue and mess around at 7am trying to bag a slot. |

I'm glad its not just me that thinks Disney is a no no nowadays. We are going in June and this will be the first time we have went to Florida and not done Disney, and we have been to Florida quite a bit over this last 25 years. We are doing all the other usual parks, but there is no way we are prepared to pay the every increasing Disney tax this time around.
Before booking our up and coming trip for next year, we priced up our usual on site Disney holiday and it was double what we paid in 2019, So needless to say that was laughed off the computer screen and we managed to get a pretty good I-Drive deal instead. Like others have said on here, we are looking forward to the different schedule on our holiday this time around. We haven't been to Universal Studios in 14 years, so particularly looking forward to that. |
