Is it best to buy a 14 day pass before we go, or pay for 4 days at the park?

It is more cost efficient to buy a 14 day ticket. the 4 day costs as much, or almost as much and doesnt offer the same flexibility. At least with the 14 day, you can got all of those days if you want, do a morning or afternoon instead of feeling like you "need" to stay in the park to get value out of one of your 4 days

Agree with the above - we’ve bought the 14 day tickets several times and we would have spent much more buying the old hopper tickets. (When we first visited in 1988, the tickets were paper and the cast members used to physically stamp the tickets each time you went in!)

First, don't buy 4 separate 1-day tickets for each day. Instead it's better to buy a 4-day ticket.
A 4-day ticket starts from around £360 for a base ticket. A base ticket does not allow you to park hop and it does not include access to the waterparks. That price is from UndercoverTourist. A 14-day ticket starts from £469. That price is from Disney's UK website. For example, a 4-day base ticket starting from this Friday will cost about £405 whereas a 14-day ticket starting from this Friday will cost £469. So the 14-day ticket is around £64 per person more expensive than the 4-day ticket. Therefore it can work out noticeably cheaper to get a 4-day ticket than a 14-day ticket depending on when you are going and what you want from the ticket.
