We’ve looked at getting them a few times but the break even point would be around 9 years and then we would only save a couple of hundred pounds a year so it really doesn’t seem worth it as it would take a big chunk of savings.

Bit of a left field question this, but does anyone who has panels foresee and reason why we couldn’t put ours on a new summer house that’s a bit a way from the house and then run cables to it?

The house itself is old (around 1750) and I don’t think the panels would look good on the peg tile roof!

The posts on here are really helpful and give me a sense that we’d be ok size wise (the summer house will be 30-50m2) but not sure if running cables underground is an option. Anyone on here have a set up like that?

I can't see this would be a problem, just need the correct sized cables for the load/voltage drop, and Bob's your Uncle.

A decent installer will give you a quote free of charge.

From my designer days, there are some roofs you have trouble mounting panels on, we wouldn't touch peg tile roofs.

As it takes that long to recoup the original cost, there is no point in our buying any. We will be in a different place by then! 🫢

But this thread has made very interesting reading.

Thanks and good to hear. Yes, I can’t imagine panels on peg tiles would working out well!
