Miami to Orlando - Recommended Stop offs

Hi All,

We are flying into Miami on 17 August and staying overnight before driving up to Orlando the next day. The plan is to drive up on the US27 and take it easy. We would like to stop off on the way for a bite to eat and maybe take in a nice beach as we have 2 children aged 9 and 6 so breaking up the trip would be good. If anyone has any recommendations/tips it would be appreciated.

Regards

Pete

We stopped at Clewiston for coffee and Sebring for lunch on the Circle. Sebring was lovelyh. The US27 is inland, so you won't find any beaches this way!

If you are going to use highway 27 you won't exactly be near any beaches without going out of your way. You could stop at Clewiston and have a gander at Lake Okeechobee.

Pete,

For beaches you'll be better off taking on the Gulf via US41 to Naples and I75 north.

Take a look at my new thread from yesterday

We always stop at Vero beach for lunch, Mulligans is right on the beach, good food and service, and amazing views.

The stop at Mulligans on Vero Beach sounds perfect. Did you just turn up? I can't see an option to boo on their website.

is Mulligans inside the holiday inn by any chance, the last time we were around there we could not find it and someone then suggested it might be inside the hotel
