DOUBLE TROUBLE IN THE DISNEY AND UNIVERSAL BUBBLE AUG’22 Day 0: Gatwick Bag Drop.
AUGUST 7th LONDON GATWICK TO TAMPA
5 NIGHTS CABANA BAY FAMILY SUITE 5 NIGHTS ROYAL PACIFIC RESORT STANDARD ROOM 12 NIGHTS DISNEY ALL STAR MUSIC ADJOINING ROOMS AUGUST 29th TAMPA TO LONDON GATWICK The Cast Me: George:46 DW: Kelly:45 DD1: Evie Mae:15 DD2:Lily Belle:13 So first tiny instalment of the trip report. Dead on 12.20pm I did online check in. I was a little unsure about how successful this would be after hearing various reports of difficulty doing the online check in with kids. It was actually very straightforward and done within minutes. I opted to save the boarding passes and then I printed them out. I wasn’t entirely sure what time we’d be able to drop the cases off at the bag drop. On the BA website it said 6pm. We only live 20 minutes at the most from Gatwick so around about 4.45pm Kelly and I loaded the 4 cases into the car. I was a little unsure if they’d all fit but it was absolutely fine. We initially had planned on just taking 3 cases with a forth inside one of the others. Kelly insisted that was what would be happening. I knew full well that wouldn’t be the case(no pun intended, or was there?)so of course we took four. It was a nice easy drive to Gatwick. We parked up pretty quickly at the South Terminal where BA are situated and made our way to the South Terminal grabbing a trolley. These were £1. Once inside we were greeted with a big line of people so my heart sank. Luckily for us(not for the people waiting) this was the Easy Jet check in. That was a pretty big line. We turned left to Zone C where the BA area was and joined a small queue for the Bag Drop. This specified you needed to have your boarding pass. There was a row of machines to the left where you could print the boarding passes though. I’m assuming at 6pm the desks with actual “real BA staff” opposite the Bag Drop would be open. It was about 5.20pm so I didn’t see if there was a desk open. Someone checked our boarding passes and passports and guided us to a self service machine to drop our bags off. One at time we first scanned the boarding cards, then passports and then were asked to place a bag on the conveyer belt. The cases were weighed. One was 22.8 so just ok! A label was then printed off which we then attached to the cases. Kelly took a photo of each label showing the bar code. A receipt was also printed off, The process took about 10 minutes for the four of us and 4 cases. I then took my time putting all the passports, boarding passes and receipts away so I didn’t lose anything. We then headed back to the car. £8 for parking. We were driving out by 5.45pm. A very easy quick process. We popped into get a takeaway McDonalds on the way home. That was far more chaotic and took longer! So that’s it for this little pre travel day. Off tomorrow and Travel Day will appear sometime soon in the near future! Thanks for reading. George
