Another scooter thread sorry !

Hiya all

Trying to get a scooter for my dad . He's healthy etc but just struggles now with distance walking.

I have read various threads on here and tried some of the companies ( thank you)

There are 7 of us in total in a 12 seater hire van from MCO .

I am wanting the Scooter delivered to the villa (Orange tree US 27)

I am speaking currently with gold mobility scooters however they say they don't deliver that far they are near Disney

We want a scooter that will last round the parks too

Are there charging points in the parks please ?
Does anyone know of any Scooter hire will deliver to the villas in US 27?
GMS have two models a victory model (big seat and more battery life 8-10 hours ) or Gogo small back seat only 4-5 hours battery but prob better to get into van?

Does anyone also have any experience of whether this would just fit in 12 seater Van without disassembly?

Any advice also makes models suggestions that are smaller for transportation but good battery life and obviously comfortable.

Also do they all come with insurance do you know

Thank you all
Xx

Choose your scooter carefully. Some are big and heavy and can’t be disassembled easily, yiu want the travel scooter type.
These disassemble easily and are less heavy.
I’ve never had to charge the scooters up during the day, only charging back at the villa at night.
I can’t comment on a 12 seater can, but I’m assuming you only need the 7 seats? That should give you space to put the scooter in.
I’ve never head of gold mobility, but seems a bit strange they won’t deliver, both buena vista and walker do deliver, or have a discount to collect from their sites

Hi
You don't "have" to disassemble the smaller travel scooters to get them into the back of the 12 seater provided you have enough room, BUT, you will have to have enough able bodied people to pick it up and put it in. Total weight may be doable by one person, but they are an awkward shape. Taking them apart means that you can stack pieces on top of each other if necessary. The larger scooters are incredibly heavy - there are just 2 of us and we would never be able to deal with the weight.

Would you consider picking the scooter up from the provider's offices? We've done that before too.

It isn't too strange that they won't deliver out a considerable distance - I've seen restrictions on delivery areas before, and I'm assuming that you have been able to give them a community address even if you don't have your exact villa address yet.

As far as battery power and time in the parks is concerned, I have only ever hired the smaller travel scooters and have not had a problem with time or distance. I did remember to switch the scooter off (with the key) if we were in a queue, watching a parade or waiting for the rest of or party though. The only time I've ever had problems with battery life was when one of our party was using the back of the scooter as an impromptu walking stick and the extra weight of her leaning on the back of the seat put extra strain on the battery and it kept running out. Took us a long time to work that out and involved several phone calls to the rental company before we realised! I should also say that I am not particularly svelte and the heavier you are, the more power required to move you around. I have usually found that most restaurants have a power point somewhere you could plug the scooter in if needed. I just made sure that the battery was taken into the villa and charged overnight and that I took the charging cable out with me the next day too.

I recommend gold mobility after just using them
They were great and I’m sure you could arrange collection at a park or go the next day to pick up
Never needed to charge through the day on a full park day, and at night just brought the battery in to charge up
We got one that you removed the seat off the Scooter and put in the back of the SUV lots of space didn’t take up too much room

Hiya thank you too for this information it is really helpful

Could I also ask what type of scooter you got and from which company
We don't really need a big scooter but the bigger ones called victory I believe say 8-10 hours and the Gogo scooter says 4-5 hours .

Realistically round parks for a full day is the Gogo sufficient

Lifting them into a 12 seater without the battery are they really heavy ? Or is this doable with two people please

Thanks again

Thanks for info

I tried Buena vista and they said out their area the US 27 villas . I don't consider it far from Disney really not sure on their distance but may have to consider collection from Disney park

When you say you've never had to charge in parks is this for full day in parks and is this for a scooter such as Gogo scooter which says 4-5 hours battery

I'm assuming these are lasting longer as not going say 6mph round parks and more like 3 ?

Sorry for the delay - have a non-functioning brain at the moment!
I rented a 4 wheel GoGo from Gold Mobility (I've probably said before, but highly recommend them). I find that the 4 wheels make me feel more stable than the 3 wheel ones although 3 wheels are def more manoeuvrable. I have used a GoGo for a full day (6-7hrs) in the park without a problem. I do tend to try and top up the battery while we have lunch or when we're hanging around waiting for some of our party that might be doing something else (sometimes pop into a restaurant/sit down QS for a cup of water and a cheeky top up) and that's been fine.
I also make sure I switch it off when we're in a queue, watching a parade or show etc - any time I'm sitting still for more than a couple of minutes - I think that has probably helped with the battery power.
You can absolutely lift a GoGo with 2 people - we've done it to get it into the back of both minivans and larger SUVs. If you want to cut the weight down, the best thing to do is take out the battery before you put it in, but as I said, perfectly doable with 2 people.
I've never used a Victory as it's just DD any myself and there's not a snowball's chance in hell we'd be able to lift one
