Points Points Points a plenty whilst I was working and flying most months, retired now ( which is brilliant) but economy or occasional PE now.
I wasn't a huge fan of the herringbone layout to be honest ( although now changed I believe) but service and the extras on UC were great.
Used to do a lot of 2 flight trips and really enjoyed Business or 1st with Swiss, Lufthansa and AA.
Economy now with Grandchildren, which I find really good with Virgin. The film channels are great usually get 3 films in and you're nearly there.
If I could get UC for 1250 each and just 2 of us might do it.
Or 300 upgrade.
Loved the sleeping on way home!

Thanks!
We do collect some still but not huge amounts.
I have noticed lots more reward seats available.
I looked in Economy.
Might drop the Grandkids and upgrade!

Its so interesting reading how people like to do things!
One way for us next time (return flight) is £3418 for 4. Its funny how some of us would say yep I'm doing that, and the others (me!) are thinking nope not a chance! 🤣

My target is £1700 per pax, but would pay more if I have to

Everything possible goes on American Express, we both have them, that equals to companion vouchers a year that we only use in Club or First if available.

It also really depends on how many are in your party. I have friends that will fly business and out their (teenage) kids in economy. Personally we couldn’t do that but I understand why people do. I really don’t wish my kids childhoods away but when there’s only 2 of us flying outside of the school holidays, our parameters will change completely.

Is it a specific American Express that you need to use and what are companion vouchers?

We are all different for sure
Oh definitely, I just feel with such an expensive and great experience I sure don’t want to sleep it away .
Saying that we did fly back WT plus and I did snooze on and off , the new leg rests on the plane made all the difference from just the foot rests.
