Universal and IOA tips early entry

Going back to both for the first time in 8 years.
We are staying at Surfside and early entry seems to be Universal. We only really have one full day for each park, and will use early entry or rope drop for each.
What rides are open at Universal St on early entry, and any other tips for getting the big rides done first. We do all rides BTW.
Not doing volcano bay.

When we were there in May it was IOA that had early opening and the rides open for the extra hour were Velocicoaster and all the Harry Potter area.

We’re usually October visitors and it’s been the Studios open for early entry and the rides open are Minions and the Harry Potter area.

The Hogwarts Express doesn’t open until 9 am though

I've read that it is better to do Velocicoaster first and then Hagrids later in the day, more towards the evening because the queue times are less.

As for Universal, I would get there for early entry and do Gringotts. Although, if the Mummy has reopened by the time you go, queues for this may be longer so this could be a good first shout.

Also, if you have any children who love Harry Potter and want to be 'picked' for the want experience, do this as one of your last stops in the day because they are pretty much guaranteed to get selected lol

Not quite an "early entry" tip ! Whatever the listed closing time for IOA, for instance 8pm in late Sept. You can walk up to Hagrids as late as 7:59pm (I perhaps wouldnt leave it that late) and still get in line. By which time should be considerably shorter than the daytime lines
