This year we were asked and as we only had some sweets and chocolate I answered yes and got a glare. He only wanted to know if I had any food on the banned list. As above though I would only say if asked as there’s no other check after immigration now.

We have just come back and we stayed in a villa and took the following... Don't judge lol (there was 10 of us)
Washing machine Pods
Fairy Liquid
Dishwasher tablets
2 pkts chocolate digestives and Rich tea
Big box of Rice Krispies, and various bars of chocolate! Beef and horseradish crisps
Coffee, tea, sweetners, marmite, jam and nutella. The little robinson squash things x 3
And my brother also packed his giant Toblerone (know one knows why).

No one asked to declare and i never said anything (we take this everytime we go)

Open the tab "what food etc". This is the official US C&BP list of approved items. There's a secondary tab about meat, dairy, veg etc.

help.cbp.gov/s/sidebar-top-5...language=en_US

I know beyond doubt that whenever I post this reply someone will say "I was given one on the way to Los Angeles in January" but here goes anyway.

I haven't seen a blue/white customs form into MCO for 5 or 6 years. The Automated Passport Kiosks were removed sometime between April 2018 (we used them then) and Nov 2018 (they'd gone). Therefore there's no official means of declaring food but in our experience the IO will always ask.

I've no intention of advising the IO of all the customs and immigration laws that we're complying with but I'll answer all their questions honestly and confidently.

We are stopping in a villa, and brought loads of snack cereal bars, cereal,Pringles, coffee tea, sugar, ketchup, mayo, salt, vinegar, toilet rolls, kitchen rolls, cling film, tin foil, washing pods dish washer tablets , washing up liquid.we are 10 in a villa.
Food is mostly expensive, but found aldi ok. Got a 16 inch pizza for $7.
Some fruit reasonable some super expensive.
Only eaten our so far at Perkins a, Denny’s and Chef Mickeys.
Perkins was great, good food at a reasonable price, chef mickeys expensive but always knew it would be.Denny’s gone downhill, the food was ok, service slow even though it was quiet. The coupon for 20% off only gave us $10 off instead of $24 lus when home we realised they had over charged us, so we have emailed Denny’s, as in the restaurant they could only take off what the scanner said.
Today it’s either Typhoon lagoon or B j brew house depending on the weather.

I'm sure that villa owners will tell you not to take UK toilet rolls which are generally thicker than USA ones. Drainage pipes are smaller diameter in the USA and UK rolls can often cause blockages leading to expensive repair bills for owners and, I guess, tenants.
