Chessington?
Has anyone been to Chessington since it reopened? Any tips or things to bear in mind?
We’re going next week and the queue times on the app looked quite long for some rides today. I’m hoping it will be quieter on Monday. It’s only open 10-4 so don’t really fancy 1 hr plus queues if we can help it. I’m trying to resist making a full on Disney style itinerary for the day as we’re meeting my sister and her family and they’ll think I’m bonkers! 😁😆

Hi I dropped my dd and her bf there last Monday at 10am. They managed about 5 rides, Grufffalo, Vampire, Rattlesnake, Tomb Blaster and the Log Flume one (which had the longest wait time of 45 mins).
They also visited the zoo and sea life centre, picked them up again at 3.30 and they’d had a great day. Hope this helps, enjoy!

We went last Saturday and I have to be honest and say I wasn’t impressed .
We go a lot as we have merlin passes but it was way busier than it should be at the moment and some guests don’t seem to care about social distancing. Have to say the staff were great though and are keeping the park and rides clean and ride queues seem to be exaggerated as we managed about 6 rides and they were all a good 20 mins or so under the queue time stated . They are stopping the rides for about 5/10 mins at a time so they can clean them which i think is why they exaggerate them a bit . |

Thanks FizzyWhip, I am a bit worried about it being too crowded. They don’t appear to be sold out so they aren’t even at their planned maximum capacity. At least it sounds like they are making efforts to keep everything clean.

We went on Friday and it was much busier than I expected with very little social distancing going on. Queue times for the bigger rides like Vampire, Gruffalo etc were over an hour for most of the day. Zufari was 95 mins at one point. Only a few places selling food were open so the queues were long for those. Our son is disabled so we were able to use the ride access pass otherwise we wouldn't have got much done. The staff did their best but they were run ragged with the cleaning on the rides. There were no staff members monitoring the amount of people using the toilets so it was a little stressful when there were too many people at the sinks and hand dryers. We didn't feel unsafe, we just found it a bit stressful.

Just thought I'd update in case others are interested.
We went on Monday and, to echo what others have said, I think there were too many people allowed in. It was hard to social distance when walking around. People were generally trying to social distance when in queues or standing around but not always, and it was hard in queues as they are quite narrow in places. I felt the cleaning regime was very good, but some things were odd, like they had got rid of a lot of the outdoor seating, so people just sat on walls etc to eat. Why not remove a few tables so they are more spread out? We did have a great time, and got on 6 or 7 rides. The queue times were generally shorter than posted, and the longest we waited was about 40 mins for Vampire, but we didn't bother with the Gruffalo or Zufari.

Yes , I thought that was strange too .
We had to eat perched on a wall outside the main gift shop which meant I ended up with chilli and nacho sauce all down my front 😳 We have Alton towers and the water park at the end of next week so will be interested to see how they compare as I’ve heard it’s been quite full there too . |
