I booked for my lot to go Rovaniemi, similar age to your son so they didnt want santa. They absolutely loved it , they did snow mobile which was a highlight and took some beautiful pictures , too cloudy for northern lights unfortunately , they went up to he Santa village just to look round and did a husky ride too. They stayed in town in a cheapish hotel and got bus to airport and up to santa village etc , the hotel was in walking distance of restaurants and places where you can book snow mobile rides etc as they didn't pre book anything before they went.

Friends of ours went to Gulo Gulo Holiday Village, it looked amazing! They had an incredible time and would love to go back.

We went to Rovaniemi but it was a good 8 years ago now. (I can’t compare it to Sweden as not been.) It was very very expensive and quite commercialised. Petrol station across from the village slightly ruined the experience.
I’m also concerned about what the experience would be like since Covid. My brother lives in Finland and he’s said they’ve (not my brother) had to kill thousands of husky dogs as they can’t afford to feed them with no tourists.😢 I did do a trip report on trip advisor. I’ll see if I can find the link.👍🏻 |

Went to Levi in Finnish Lapland a few years ago. It was amazing. We booked a week long holiday through Inghams ski but didn’t book the skiing, staying in a cabin in the woods.
We did Santa visit, husky mushing, reindeer sledding, Snowmobiling, night in a glass igloo, visit to ice hotel, session in water world which has pool, slides, outdoor hot tubs, private ski lesson and days hire of ski equipment, and lots of sledging (they are free all around the village and at kids land sledge slope) and were there over new year and they had fireworks over the ski slope. Absolutely beautiful and magical, the northern lights were active but sky was cloudy so we never saw them. We didn’t go hunting for them though as kids were too young to stay awake that late. I booked all trips independently through either inghams or the Levi tourist office. |

We’ve booked with Transun to stay at the Davvi Arctic Lodge next February half term. 4 nights with lots of activities and hopefully a glimpse of the Northern lights.
