Orlando Magic basketball
Took the kids to see Orlando Magic play last week and it was the boys' highlight of the holiday - better than swimming with dolphins, and at £10 a ticket a little more cost effective! The stadium was easy to find, I ordered tickets from ticketmaster over the internet, and it was a nice family atmosphere and plenty to keep everyone entertained. Something I would recommend.

Thanks for that info.
It is something I'd thought about for my last 3 trips and never done Specially as last year was the last holiday my eldest DS had with us and he loves basketball The reason I didn't get tickets was only the cheapest seats were ever available and I thought they'd be rubbish! From what you say they would have been fine, never mind |

Anyone know what the season dates are for Orlando Magic?
I've wanted to do this for a while, but never seem to be able to find the right dates on Ticketmaster. |

NBA games are fantastic. I've been a basketball player and fan for many years so going to an NBA game was a must. I've been to see both the Miami Heat and the Orlando Magic.
The entertainment is non-stop - through timeouts, quarter breaks and half-time there is always something happening - you won't be bored. I can't remember whether it was at The Heat or The Magic but on a couple of occasions, an airship suddenly appeared out of the roof of the arena and, by way of remote control presumably, flew around the arena and projected toys, t-shirts and caps into the crowd. They're struggling to give tickets away for The Magic these days - the days of Shaq are long gone and you'll have no trouble getting tickets at all - even if you turn up on the night. (The fact that they have lost all 6 of their home games this season so far tells it's own story.) That said, even the 'cheap seats' have a great view. The season runs until about mid-April (last game for the Magic this year is 14th April) and then it's the playoffs. The Magic have no chance of making the playoffs this season! It's not unusual for a team to play several consecutive nights - their schedule is intense. |

Yes, they had the airship at Magic. They also had compressed air guns that fired t shirts into the crowd. They went pretty high but didn't quite reach the cheapest seats where we were. Bozza's right, there were quite a few empty seats and we were there on opening night. The atmosphere was great as they only lost by one basket. The season begins mid October with some friendlies then starts in earnest late October. I'm hoping to catch the Knicks in NY this time next year.

Directrions to the TD Waterhouse arena:
"From Orlando International Airport (OIA): Exit OIA to Semoran (436). Travel approximately five miles to the 408 (formerly East/West) Expressway. Take the 408 West, connect to I-4 East, and exit at Amelia Ave. Make a left; TD Waterhouse Centre will be on the left side." I didn't have any problems finding it last time round. Games are 4 quarters of 12 minutes each but the clock stops every time the ball is not in play. In addition there are the quarter breaks, half-time (longer) and time-outs. I guess a game would last a little over 2 hours. Darren |

The stadium was very easy to find. You just head up the I4 until you see the signs - I think they say 'arena' - and there was plenty of parking.
