All tours will pick up from the port but it all depends what you are looking at and where you are going. The one that comes to mind is Rome. The stop listed for this is Chicivetchia (sorry spelling) which is a good hour from Rome itself so the tour involves a long commute to the city. If you look on the Disney Cruise website you can get an idea about the tours. Most of them will say in the "important information" section something about the route they take and will show how much travelling is involved. Rome is the only one I know for sure where there is little to nothing in the port area (its more an industrial port). I'm sure if you have specific questions on the tours themselves people might have more specific answers for you

It's a Small World Nursery is $9 per hour, mainly bookable in advance but worth checking with them if you fancy some adult time on the spur of the moment.
They have toddler time between 8-9am each day so parents can go in with their littlies to play, explore and get them used to it. If your baby still has mush food, you need to bring it with you (your servers will much veg and/or fruit for you or you bring packets). Milk too will need to be provided for you. There are no microwaves to heat it up. The do serve solid food in there though like veg sticks and crackers. Before you sail, you can book up to 10 hours of nursery time .. with it being your first cruise, that would be 75 days before departure ok. There's a SplashZone on deck designed for littlies and between 2:30-3:30, it's exclusively used for the littlies and their parents. I say that as sometime the older children go in there too - grrrr. Your littlie will NOT be allowed in any of the pools .. this is not a DCL rule, but a US Government rule. No nappies or non-toilet trained children basically. They close down the whole pool, drain it, refill it then add the chemicals if someone has an accident .. it takes the pool out of use for a long time. We took our 8 months grandchild a couple of years ago .. it was best to book him in for dinner time as he created merry bloomin hell at the table. His parents put him in for 2 hours each dinner and 2 hours after his nap. Hope that helps Joa

Different view to above re Rome port if it is Cittavechia, you are bussed out of the port and then can walk to the beach (stony) and the town where there is a market and shops, although in the summer its usually very hot and we have never managed to shop for long, saying that I would never travel to Rome with children in the summer.
Livorno one of the other italian ports for Florence / Pisa is an very large industrial port where you are bussed into a big town, again not much there but shopping and from memory it wasn't great! Apart from that think your child will love Disney Magic and agree with the poster that said a 1 year old will find it like the parks without the long haul! Gillian |

It's quite possible we came into a different dock area as definitely was no town or bus provided for us but we weren't on Disney. It looked like an industrial estate

I agree it is a big port but we have always been bussed to the fort at the entrance to the port where you can walk into the small town. Its a shame you weren't offered this as if its not too hot its quite a nice change from the ship.
Maybe a good excuse to go back! Gillian |

We did both of these last year with our 1 year old and as you say gave a break from the ship to have a wander around. In Livorno we were dropped off right by the tourist information on the free bus from port and did one of the independent walking tours with the pushchair, they had a big market on which was fun to look at.

Well we are in fact going back there on our cruise in September (again not with Disney) so hopefully this time they will offer one! It sounds like its a good place to at least have a wander and get a few souvenirs
