Who has been to these Ports/cities?

Copenhagen - Embark/Disembark from here
Rostock - (not Warnemunde, but can get the train to Warnemunde)
Tallin
St Petersburg
Helsinki
Stockholm

I am doing a 9 night Baltic cruise from Copenhagen, just looking for adcice really on any of these locations.

Mainly

1. Is it easy to get from port to the town without booking cruise tours
2. Any key highlights for these locations, even if you haven't cruised there I will be looking to organise a jam packed day in each place.

Thank so much

M x

Only Copenhagen and it depends which pier they use, we were at Langelinie which was an easy walk to the centre, will be there again next week.

St Petersburg involves a coach trip and visas so need to pre book a trip not necessarily with the cruise company though.
Not sure about the others.
Suggest you look on cruise critic.

We did most of these ports in July. We can highly recommend Alla Tours for St Petersburg they were excellent for our two day, overnight stay. Others ports are very easy to do on your own, either walking or on public transport. In Stockholm we enjoyed the Vasa museum and walking the old town.
Tallinn is walkable from the port and the old town is compact. In Helsinki we got the ship's shuttle bus into the centre - it was raining heavily so didn't head out to Suomelinna (sp) as planned but did our own walking tour.

Thanks so much Mo, I'll actually have a few days in Copenhagen so do you have any other top tips?

Do you know, in St Petersburg, do I literally have to be with the tour guide for the duration of the time in dock? As in, if I book a 1 day tour on the first day, will I be able to say go out in the evening on my own? Or the next day?
As its our only overnight stay, I'd love to go out and explore a bit on the evening.

Are you going to visit Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen? If you do, make sure you go on the swing chair things that go up in the air ... sooooo high!

As far as I know you cannot be without your guide unless you get your own tourist visa. Just looked at the cost, around £100 each I think.
