Simply the difference on the day between what your pass is worth (Disney wholesale price) versus current cost but be aware they have just increased the AP prices by 19% so not a great deal

lots of threads on that topic

to sum them up

if you use waterparks or golf, you will be required to upgrade to platinum plus ($1219 + tax)
if you don't, you may be able to upgrade to platinum (no waterparks) at $1119 + tax

you hold a 14 days ticket which has a relative value of $490 (true value can only be determined on the day you upgrade

so you're looking at $800 to upgrade your ticket to platinum plus, and $700 to upgrade to platninum

but that's only a guesstimate, true price can only be quoted on the day, at the desk

I beg to differ ... how do you get those prices ?

current price for a 14 days ultimate is £385 (Disney site) for 2019 tickets, and £449 for 2020 tickets.

ooops I apologise chmurf yes you are correct. ... I was checking the price for two tickets in January next year which works out at £898. I will go back and see if I can edit my post. Thank you for pointing it out

I have edited my post but unfortunately it still shows up in your quoted post.

Don't forget that it isn't necessarily the price that you paid, I was told by Disney that they work it on their wholesale price (even if bought from them ) so you could be less in your calculations.

I just googled and that was the price it gave me which I had assumed was the price (and yes was looking at 2020 soz). In which case its less than I did so not quite the same values calculated but with parking I think it would still work out good value.

It will be the AP price less what you paid for your ultimates. I have decided to do it during my September visit and I am expecting the cost to be almost as much as the cost of a second set of 14 day ultimates.

However we don't have the dining plan in September so I will get some dining discounts and for the following trip I have decided to forgo free dining because it doesn't suit how we eat anyway. I think the price increase does make it questionable as to whether it is worth it.

with what you'll be paying to upgrade, you might be able to get almost 2 sets of 14 days tickets ...
