When we stayed at the Best Western Lakeside (now just the Maingate Lakeside) we used that shortcut all the time. It was brilliant.

Apart from MVMCP in 2014 we haven't been to a park since 2010 but still visit DS a couple of times every holiday and always use that route. In fact the OP is by far our preferred east-west route and use it far more than the 192.

One word of caution though. The Sherberth route is becoming so popular that during peak hours the left hand turn lane on to it travelling east on the 192 at the lights is often tailed back into lane 3 on the main carriageway.

From 'Florida Dream' to 'Florida Project' in a very short distance via this short cut which I used to go to Chick Fil A.

Thanks for the tip !
Was only looking at this route on Google maps yesterday and wondering if it would be a good shortcut for us from Windsor Hills.

Can you go the other way back as I’m staying at AKL next year & may want to to to the shops on the 192?

It could be. If you can get on to Entry Point Boulevard you'll hit the lights at 192/Sherberth and won't face the problem of tailback that I mentioned earlier.

Or all the way on North Old Lake Wilson to the 192 and turn left up to Sherberth.

Google maps suggests that you can leave the AK car park and get back to the Sherberth/Osceola lights but as we haven't been to AK for ten years I can't confirm. I guess you have to follow exit signs for 192 west maybe?

Yes it is very easy to go from AKL to 192 via Sherbeth. You just need to turn right at the traffic light. That direction also flows much better in busy times now as there is a dedicated right turn lane at 192.

For anyone leaving the AK parking lot you need to stay in the right lane and than take the on ramp BEFORE the overpass (otherwise you will automatically end up heading east on Osceola). You then need to get over to the 2 left turn only lanes quite quickly.

Mick, I never realised that the part after the Osceola Parkway junction was called Black Lake. I suspect the 2 parts might have been connected years ago before the construction of AKL and the timeshares just outside Disney. The last bit is for staff and Disney buses only so shouldn't confuse too many tourists.

That will teach me to read posts properly. I didn't spot the change from AK to AKL in Mary's post but I may have helped in case anyone wants to get from AK to 192.
