Anchors Norway - Day 5, Alesund

1st June

Today’s port is Alesund and we awoke to find us sailing the final bit into port. We looked outside to see overcast grey skies. It was Cabanas for breakfast as usual leaving Megan in bed and taking some food back for her.

We left the ship to see there was a MSC ship next to us. We followed everyone else towards the town and wandered for about 30 mins. We had planned to do the town train but hadn't seen any sign of it or where to get it.

We found a stop for the HoHo bus which suggested it started from the cruise terminal so we headed back to the ship. There was no sign of where to get the bus so I asked a woman who was handing out maps. She said we needed to go back along the road again to the bus station. We found this which was also the cruise terminal.

The MSC ship was obviously docked at the official terminal and The Magic wasn't. This was also the place for the town train.

We bumped into Marie and Emily. We all queued for train tickets but the first available time was 2pm. We didn't want to wait that long so got bus tickets instead. We waited about 30 mins for a bus and once aboard went up the mountain.

The driver said he couldn't get right to the view point as the road was blocked with busses. Instead he dropped us at a path to walk the final leg to the view point.

We saw a view of the harbour as we walked and came to a part where we could either head down to the town centre, or carry on up to the view point. We didn’t know how much further up it was so we followed the signs back down to the instead. It was a steep walk down and once back in the town we found the next bus stop and got back on the bus.

We went back to the ship where we dumped our stuff in the room and went up for food. It was raining at this point and we were too late for Cabanas, so we got a Kebab and a filly cheese steak sandwich which was not great.

We returned to the room and just relaxed in there for the rest of the afternoon

Tea tonight was in Carioca’s and it was the prince & princess evening. I had shrimp with jambalaya, potato soup and then turkey as did Megan, Tracey had steak. Megan and I had sweet temptations, Megan enjoyed the flourless chocolate cake so much, she then had a full size piece.

The show tonight was Tangled The Musical, which was good.

Tracey and I had an early night as we were getting up at 5am next morning for the arrival into Geriangerfjord. Megan was at Vibe and didn’t have an early night.

The view back down to the ship is great. How much were the tickets for the bus?
