San fran to la

Hi guys,

We travel a lot and 4 weeks tomorrow we are travelling from Manchester to San Fran ( 2 Adults 1 Child aged 12 ).

We arrive in San Fran on the tuesday afternoon and have booked into the Marriott Marquis for 3 nights, leaving San Fran on the friday morning to travel to Santa Cruz, stay there 1 night then from there down to Santa Barbara staying 1 night there. Hired a mustang convertible for the trip down the 101 which we then swap at Santa Barbara for a SUV.

Arriving to LA on the sunday evening which we are looking to stay at the Andaz West Hollywood which i have been told is a nice hotel in nice area, we are undecided of how many nights, i was going to book 8 there then 2 nights in San Diego before we fly out late afternoon on the tuesday out of LAX. Someone suggested book 7 in LA then 1 also in Anahiem as we are visiting Disney, is this a good idea ?

All help appreciated greatly

PLUS... Any other tips would be great on places to visit and restaurants

8 nights is a long time in LA depending on what you want to see. Our break up between your last 3 places was 2 nights LA, 3 nights Anaheim & 2 nights San Diego. I would have loved more time in SD, LA we probably could have had another night & spent more time at the beach but it certainly wasn't somewhere I could have spent a lot of time.

To each their own but I would go for 3 San Diego, 5 LA & 3 Anaheim.

Traffic in LA is crazy so you definitely want to be based in Anaheim for Disney, it can be a 90 minute drive otherwise from central LA.

I hated driving in LA as the traffic was horrendous and it just seemed to take ages to get anywhere but San Diego was great to drive around and a wonderful place to visit.

We only stayed in LA for 1.5 days and then moved on as this was enough for us to visit Santa Monica and do the brilliant Warner bros tour and a little visit to the Chinese theater but did feel the area felt a bit run down.

Absolutely agree that it is worth staying in Anaheim for Disney and not fighting your way through the traffic that morning, suggest you spend at least a couple of nights there
