NYC when its raining...

The weather forecast looks awful for us this coming Sunday / Monday. Can anyone suggest things to do in the rain? The last time we visited it didn't stop the whole time we were there & to be honest it did ruin our visit. I can't have that happen again as we are taking my MIL & it's her first visit.

Hi we only had rain one day and visited the American Museum of Natural History , also saw a matinee show . Spot of shopping , MOMA, Madame Tussauds, or visit the Grand Central Terminal ?

We were in NYC for two days at the end of our trip last year and it rained the whole first day!

My advice- take and umbrella and carry on with what you have planned!

We visited ground zero which, whilst obviously very sad, is definitely worth a visit.

get to battery park and take the Staten island ferry is only just to come straight back again - it's free and offers some wonderful views of the Statue of Liberty.

Go shopping.

Please don't let the rain put you off. If you're dressed for it, it will be fine.

Some hotels offer free umbrellas (big ones) so check that.

How about going up the Empire State?

I went in May for 5 nights last year for my sisters 50th which was actually in January, but wanted to hold off until the weather would be better. It rained everyday for most of the time - museums, ground zero are all worthwhile places to visit anyway and go for rainy days - don't think much to the open top bus tours in the rain though 😀😀
