Florida in Europe? Disney (Cruise) and Theme Parks - Day 3 - Port Aventura

Wednesday 19 August – Port Aventura

We woke earlier today at 8am just before the alarm as we had booked breakfast for 9.15. Plan for today is the theme park water rides this morning and then time at the pool this afternoon, we had considered a trip to the beach but the parking in Salou seemed horrendous the other day and as Harriet doesn’t like sand we decided against it!
After breakfast Harriet went back to bed! So at 11 we finally left for the park and the water rides, there was a really long queue for tickets this morning and we queued for 10-15 minutes to get through the turnstiles.
We went immediately on entering the park to the Grand Canyon Rapids, 40 minute wait time but all other rides at this point were over an hour! Good water ride and we didn’t get too wet and the weather was getting hotter and hotter.

We went over to the Mexico part of the park to buy some souvenirs that we had seen the other day, then decided not too queue for any more rides as wait times were over an hour even for the tamer rides and therefore returned to the hotel.

We got hot dogs from the pool bar for lunch and then when to the white sand pool, I sunbathed, read and wrote my trip notes whilst Harriet swam and made a new friend Lexi, I chatted to her mum and dad who were staying for the week from Yorkshire.

At 5.30 we walked into the town of Salou, which was about a mile away and did some shopping. Harriet bought a pretty white vest top and we both bought sweets and pencils and the ‘Uno’ the card game. Back to the hotel at about 8pm and went to the buffet dinner in the hotel. After dinner we had drinks and coffee and played Uno on the deck outside the hotel. Bed at 10.30.

Harriet in her new top with another of the Hotels guests!

Edited at 03:36 PM. Reason: correct Day 4 to 3!

Interesting that they have Betty Boop - I wonder if that is a hangover from when it was owned by Universal?

We found the ride wait times really long as well. I suppose that's what you have to expect going in August.

Another lovely day
